New Year, New Me?
Happy Wednesday everyone! I know it has been a hot second since my last post. I was on vacation last week and am traveling this week. With the holidays approaching, this will be the last post of 2018. But I have some great and exciting things to talk about!
First thing is first – vacation 😊 I went to Portland, Oregon for a few days and it was a lot of fun! Weather was nice, not too cold, didn’t rain too much. My mom came with me and we had a great time. I did gain about 6 pounds but it’s fine because of vacation, right? NO! I am like the Michelin man in all my clothes now and that flight back I didn’t think my seat belt was going to fit ha!
This week, I am in Frederick, Maryland. It’s about 45 minutes southwest of Baltimore and an hour northwest of DC. This is a work trip but hopefully I’ll get some down time – we’ll see. I’m also super tired since I went from the West coast time zone, to Central time zone, and now east coast time zone. What day even is it?
And can you believe Christmas is next week? How are we already here? It seems like the year has flown by yet at the same time it has felt super long. Can you remember any of the winter Olympics that took part earlier this year? Yeah, me either lol. Looking back on the year, it has been a crazy one. Lots of ups and downs personally for me but I came out better on the other side. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year of this blog too – March will be the anniversary! Crazy.
So, looking into 2019, I pretty much always do resolutions. And I would say that 90% of mine are pretty much the same every year: Lose Weight, Be Better Financially, Blah, Blah, Blah. I even would do the “Lose Weight and this is how” and that didn’t work either. So this year, I am making a shift in the resolutions. Instead of the same thing every year, I am going to basically set myself up with little challenges throughout the year to hopefully help me stay on track. Here is my list:
1. Diet/Food – Complete 4 different 3-month diet plans throughout the year (more on this below)
2. Health/Exercise – Complete 2 Half Marathons and one 5K each quarter
3. Wealth/Career – “Find something you love to do, and you won’t work a day in your life”
4. Self – Focus on minimalism beliefs and processes to get rid of clutter in your life; devote time to the non-weight loss items of yourself (face/skin care routine, hair care, mental health care); spend more time with the ones you love.
Generic yet specific, right?
To expand on the Diet/Food challenge, I am wanting to try out different diets or ways of life that I have either done before and know is successful for others and see if they work for me. So here is the plan:
- January through March – Keto Diet to the fullest extent
o January – Keto Diet but use Intermittent Fasting
o February – Keto Diet but eat 4 meals a Day
o March – Keto Diet with no restrictions
- April through June – Vegetarian Lifestyle
o April – Vegetarian but eat 4 meals a Day
o May – Vegetarian but use Intermittent Fasting
o June – Vegetarian with no restrictions
- July through September – Vegan Lifestyle
o July – Vegan with 4 meals a day
o August – Vegan with Intermittent Fasting
o September – Vegan with no restrictions
- October through December – Meal Replacement Shakes with One Meal per Day
o October – Herbalife
o November – SlimFast
o December – Other/TBD
While doing this, I will also be keeping track of affordability. I have a feeling that Vegan and Meal Replacement Shakes may be the most expensive, but meat is pricey, so it may not be. If you want to join any of these challenges, please go right ahead! I will be updating my progress through the blog but also on my social medias. I will probably put slightly more on SMs since I can talk about each day right then and there.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy Kwanza, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! See you on the other side 😊 Love y’all!
